The Early Birds have been meeting regularly in Birmingham, Alabama, since 1981 to discuss African violets, our favorite botanical addiction. We hope you'll join us and learn more about these fascinating, beautiful plants!
We stay busy with several ongoing projects, including:
- Hosting the 2008 Dixie Convention and Show
- Restoration of a 60 year old scrapbook from one of the first African violet clubs in existence
- Monthly meetings

Who is eligible to join?
- Anyone who has an interest in gesneriads and wants to improve their growing skills.
How much are dues?
- Our dues are $12.00 per year.
When/where do you meet?
- We typically meet at 10:00 on the second Saturday of each month at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Check the Meeting Schedule for details.
When are your shows?
What is that weird-looking bird that lurks around on your webpages?
- He's our mascot, the Early Bird! He's been around for years to encourage us to grow the healthiest, most beautiful plants we can.
